Holiday guests will be making their way to your home soon. How do you plan to keep your natural stone floors looking good? The extra floor traffic over the next few months will certainly wreak havoc on your floors if you don’t take the proper precautions.

According to the Marble Institute of America, the following tips will keep your floors looking pristine all year long:

  • Dust mop floors frequently using a clean, non-treated dry dust mop.
  • Old or worn vacuum cleaners may do more harm than good because metal, plastic attachments or wheels may scratch the surface of the floor.
  • Keep mats or area rugs inside and outside all entry points to keep sand, dirt and grit from scratching natural stone floors.
  • Mats and rugs should have non-slip surfaces under the bottom to keep them in place.
